So many choices, so little time. The Ten is your guide to the best of the best that D.C. has to offer.

This week we’re rubbing out hands together with glee and taking a look at the hottest fall restaurant openings. If you’re in the mood for tacos, Italian small plates, upscale diner food, pitchered cocktails, or small batch craft beers, then this is the season for you.

If eateries were comic book heroes, this Navy Yard brewery-restaurant would be the Avengers. The latest offering from NRG teams up Birch & Barley’s brew baron Greg Engert, brewer Megan Parisi, executive chef Kyle Bailey and his wife, executive pastry chef Tiffany MacIsaac.

Baltimore’s favorite son, Woodberry Kitchen‘s Spike Gjerde, has created what he calls a “farmhouse diner.” That means plenty of comforting fare, like sourdough pancakes, open-faced creamed chip beef sandwiches and crab salad.

The winds of change are blowing through Takoma Park. Hot of the heels of La Mano Coffee Bar and Dolici Gelati’s happily received openings is the latest restaurant from Jeff Black (Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, BlackSalt, et. al.), which will sport a bar, patio and raw bar.

Eat the Rich
Get ready to slurp and sip. Mockingbird Hill’s Derek Brown has joined forces with Travis Croxton from Rappahannock Oyster Company to offer cocktails by the pitcher and bivalves by the dozen.

Water & Wall
Maple Ave.’s chef-owner Tim Ma and his business partner Joey Hernandez are opening a sister operation in Arlington. Some favorites from the Vienna location will make the menu, while others dishes will be completely new.

Toro Toro
Richard Sandoval’s Pan-Latin concept is heavy on the meat – from Wagyu to veal and from octopus to prawns. Luckily, there is plenty of rum and cachaca on hand to help wash it all down.

Fish Taco
Here’s a phrase you don’t hear often: health conscious taqueria. Brought to you by the team behind Food, Wine & Co., including executive chef Michael Harr, this fast casual eatery in Cabin John features plenty of diet friendly tacos, plus margaritas for when you want to splurge.

The team behind patty palace Thunder Burger is expanding their holdings in Georgetown with this Italian trattoria. Expect small plates and plenty of vino.

Iron Gate
When Dupont Circle’s Iron Gate closed in 2010 after more than seven decades, many worried that the picturesque courtyard and one-time stable (yes, you read that correctly) would go to waste. Now Vermillion alum Tony Chittum is transforming the old world space into a Greco-Italian effort.

Roses’s Luxury
Aaron Silverman earned his stripes working at Momofuku, 2941, and Insieme in New York City, so it’s no surprise that this Barrack’s Row eatery will have an eclectically inspired menu.
