DC has been blessed with some incredible weather this week, but this weekend is slated to bring us back up to sweltering summer temperatures. While some will seek out a pool, some of us will treat ourselves to a boozy snow cone. Vodka infused sweet strawberry basil snow cones? Yes, and thank you. Also see: Estadio’s slushito.
- Which makes me think of frozen margaritas on tap! Who thought of them first? Mike Isabella at his recently opened Bandolero? Or maybe El Chucho’s Jackie Greenbaum?
- If you were starting to feel like there weren’t enough restaurants in DC, here’s a quick and dirty round up of spots to be on the look out for: DGS Delicatessen, south of Dupont Circle; Pulpo in Cleveland Park; El Chucho in Columbia Height; Ari Gejdenson’s still unnamed 3-Level Italian gastropub on 14th Street
- In case you were thinking of dating a chef, you may ned to heed the dating advice of 5 of DC’s hottest chefs first.
- Speaking of hot chefs, Erik Bruner-Yang of Toki Underground is having a bit of a go in the food press right now. His latest venture, Maketto, a “next generation Eastern Market” on H Street, is sure to draw diners and home-cooks alike with a series of food stalls hawking their wares and a chef’s table for tastings and cooking events.
What will you be doing this weekend? Maybe check out the Capitol Pride parade? Or hunker down at a bar with TVs showing the Euro 2012 soccer tournament?
